The Darling Hotel is a visionary adaptive re-use and historical restoration of a 1935 Art Deco building built by the County of Tulare to house an annex to the original courthouse and County services. The building had been vacant for the past decade; but is finding new life as a 32 room boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant.
The Darling Hotel is an adaptive re-use and historical restoration of a 1935 Art Deco building built by the County of Tulare to house an annex to the original courthouse and County services. The building had been vacant for the past decade; but is finding new life as a 32 room boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant. The project is a multi-million dollar remodel and renovation that restored / retained the historical features while bringing the building up to current standards and with modern amenities. Will Ruoff, our Architecture group director, served as the Project Manager and Project Architect for the project while working at a previous firm. Working closely with the ownership group we were able to provide the needed services to keep the project schedule and budget in check. The project is now a centerpiece to the quaint downtown area of Visalia, California and an award winning hotel located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
This adaptive reuse project took an abandoned civic building and historic landmark and repurposed it into an era-appropriate boutique hotel and rooftop restaurant that is now a featured attraction in the downtown area of Visalia, California.
